Porsche GT3-R?detrimentalibido 06-13-2002, 11:56 PM I know that there is a Porsche GT2, but the autoshop I just got a job w/races a Porsche GT3-R in the American Le Mans, but I had never heard of a GT3-R, and I was just curious if that was a name they gave it. Cbass 09-13-2002, 07:37 AM Yes, the R is to designate the difference between the street model GT3, which is a stripped down lightweight 911 with awesome handling, and the GT3-R, which is a factory race car. Simply, R is for race. The GT3 is also a non-turbocharged engine. It is considered the fastest normally aspirated 911 ever built. The GT2 on the other hand is a stripped down 911TT. No front drive and a lot of other weight saving done. That is the fastest production Porsche. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
