1997 oldsmobile cutlass supreme question.

I have been driving this car for the past six months, for the past month my car would sometimes not accelerate when the pedal was pushed. To get around this I could either slightly press the pedal in and the rpm would go to 1500 and accelerate VERY slowly, or floor it and speed up quickly but anywhere in the middle pressing the gas pedal there was no power. Then it would go away and the whole pedal would respond. For the past week it go ta little worse then as I pulled into my neighborhood today it was only responding to me barely pressing the pedal getting me up to 20 miles an hour before topping out at that speed. The "flooring" of the pedal wasnt even working. the check engine light sufddenly came on and blinked every so often. As I turned the corner the car shut off. Now it will not start at all. Just makes the starting sound but no turnover. Anyone know wht this could be, fuel pump/filter maybe? Oh the gas tank is only about a tenth full.

sounds like you're on the right track with the fuel system.. could be the injectors.. fill your tank up and see what happens

good luck
