Dos gm diagnostic codes work as a general rule for all cars?

I have a pointac 6000 shoewing code 34.
is that electronic control modul or do i need the code for this specific car?

Depending on your year model, it could mean:

Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Circuit (Low Sig.)
or
Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) Circuit
