Probably getting a '94 Celica

Hey,
I've been looking for a good car for a while, and yesterday I test drove a '94 Celica ST. The car only has 71,000 miles, and it runs and looks great. It feels pretty sporty, considering it only has a 110 hp 1.8 liter inline-4. The transmission is also in great shape, and the clutch feels nice and tight. The outside has no door dings or anything, except the far left front headlight had a crack in it that has been covered with some sort of clear glue. I'll need to replace that if I buy the car, but that's about the only thing it needs for now, besides new tires to wrap around the 15 inch chrome wheels because the current ones are pretty worn down.

If I get the car, I'll definitely be adding some mods to it. First I'll probably lower it 1.5 inches using Eibach sportline springs or 1.75 inches using intrax sport lowering springs.

After that I'll probably add a Weapon R cold-air intake and a muffler or a cat-back exhaust system to it for a little more power and a better exhaust note.

After all that I'll probably add some focal, adr, or konig 17 inch rims to the car, and eventually probably a Vis Racing Invader kit, Spoiler, and a full paint job for the car.

If anyone knows where online I could find that stuff pretty cheap, please let me know. Chances are that I can get the stuff at wholesale cost anyways though, because one of my friends started his own automotive tuning shop and I designed a website for his new business in exchange for some good deals on parts.

Tell me what you think of the car itself and my plans for modding it.

I think it is a great idea! Those cars look great when they are modded, and you never get to see enough of them. I will be honest with you that there isn't much of an after market for the 7A-FE.

I would recommend that if you get that car is to swap the engine for a 4A-GE. You can get a 20v engine that makes 160hp (1.6liter) stock. Then if you ever want to modify it further there are TONS of parts available for the venerable 4AG.. Check out Club 4AG.

I agree with you that they look great modded. My friend has a '94 GT with 17 inch wheels, lowering springs, and a spoiler and it looks beautiful. If I could that engine for a good price I might just add a new engine instead of trying to add to the 110 horsepower it has stock using just bolt-ons. If you've got info about prices on those engines, let me know.

I talked to the owner of the Celica today, and I'm gonna buy the car Wednesday! I just have to wait for my credit union to process the loan and stuff, and then I'll get the car! I'm dying to get the car so that I can start adding stuff to it.

Does anyone have any idea on how much a new headlight lens might cost? I went to my local auto parts store after work today and they told me that they didn't have one, but the dealer probably would.

I forgot to post this up for you. Here is a link to some of the engines that you can get from Toysport in California.

Yep, the ST versions have the 1.8 liter 7A-FE engine, and the GT models have the 2.0 or 2.2 liter engines. I'm not sure which one it is off the top of my head.

I wish I had the money to drop in a 3S-GTE! How much power and torque do those 3S-FE and 32-GE engines have? Also, are you on the Celica.net forums? There's someone on there named Buzz I think with a red 6th gen.

what you need for a 3sgte conversion

I have a 25th anniversary limited edition Celica (1996). I did the j-spec 3sgte swap. You are gonna need the engine, a tranny, the ecu, change the axles, extend the wiring harness, move the radiator in, and change the hood. Its alot more power and if found a guy who had those 3sgte engines up to 700 horses. let me know if you want more info.
