Unhappy Factory Radio stop working, Can't find Fuse

The radio on my 2003 Toyota Corolla S stopped working. It looks like the cigarette lighter is not working either. Does anyone know where the fuse is or have any ideas?

Re: Factory Radio stop working, Can't find Fuse

for your radio you might wanna check behind the actual radio...as for the fuse on your cigarette lighter..i believe that its hooked stright to the battery...so on that one you might wanna check if it has a good ground or if any wires came loose

Re: Factory Radio stop working, Can't find Fuse

From what i've been able to tell on various forums is they are both run off the same fuse. However i'm just as in the dark as you are as to where that fuse is. i've looked at the fuse under the bonnet, i've looked at the fuses behind the left door frame / glove box (mines a r/h drive model as im in australia), and none of them have been blown.

It's been a few months since your initial post, hopefully you've managed to figure out whats the story. if not, looks like i'll be the one supplying the answer when i figure it out....

The fuses on 99 through 2006 models for the radio and cigarette letter are behind the small swing out storage door on the left side of the steering wheel on the dash.

the 98 through 01 corollas used a common fuse for the cigarette lighter.

As a point of advise never wire anything directly to the battery unless its a starter with out a fuse somewhere in the circuit. Its just not safe.

Yeah i found it there a while back, i just forgot to reply to this forum and mention i found it behind the coin holder.

Another thought is always make sure you've got a bunch of those fuses spare as Murphy's law dictates that you'll need 'em when you cant get hold of any at all. as i found a number of service stations dont have them. Took the third station before i found one that had these mini fuses.

Does your dome light work? some models run the radio fuse off the dome light fuse which is usually in the main fuse box under the hood.

Re: Factory Radio stop working, Can't find Fuse

I am having the same problem. The radio in our 2003 Corolla simply quit working, along with the lighter, dome light, etc. I purchased a 15 amp fuse but now am wondering which fuse to replace. Nothing is noted anywhere and all the fuses look good to me. I'll continue to troubleshoot and if I find the resolution, I'll post it here. I ask the same from anyone else with this problem.

I just had the same problem. How did you pull out the storage door on the coin holder? I don't want the break it off.

Yes the matrix is in the same location. Just pull upward on the coin tray and it will pop out.
