Question Blower Fan works on setting 3-4-5, but not 1-2

I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. I recently replaced the Heater/AC Control unit (dual temp, not digital) twice. First time I replaced it was due to the air flow not changing (vent to floor, etc.) and the AC light (on/off) not working. It has been working fine until now.

This time I changing the unit due to the fact when I turn the bower on 1 or 2, nothing happens - no air. I tried both the new unit and the old unit. Blower on 3-4-5 work fine and everything else (air flow, A/C) seems to work fine. Neither unit works with the blower at 1-2.

Any ideas, suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Sahwn

How about the blower motor resistor? Have you replaced it?

Thanks, but I'm new to this and learning as I go along. Where would I found the blower motor resistor?

Checkout the link below. It shows the location of the BMR and R&R procedure.

BMR costs from $25 - $50 depending on where you get it. Autozone has Wells brand for around $25.00 which is similar to the improved GM version. Good luck!

Talking

Lets see. Two - three hours of my time, $5 for the replacement pins and $24 for the blower motor resistor. I don't know how much you saved me, but I'm sure its hundreds. Thank you vey much !!!

By the way, the third screw in the back - how do you loosen it? Luckily I was able to work out the old blower motor resistor and basically just use the two screws to hold it is which is more than enough.

Thanks again

Shawn
