I've been having trouble with my blower motor either not working or very little flow on my 04 GP V6-3.8 Vin II (not SC). I've been to the dealer twice now...the first time ordered a capacitor to place inline as stated in TSB 05-01-39-001A. Second time it was installed and didn't work.

Now they want to replace the blower motor resistor module. It's getting cold and I'm a little tired of dealing with this dealership because of past problems. I took a look...real quick tonight, at the motor and wiring under the dash and I plan to go further tomorrow.

Here's the twist....when I apply pressure by pulling the electrical connection to the motor toward me, the fan works fine...when I let go, it either slows down or stops. I seems like a bad connection to me, but I haven't dropped the blower motor yet, so I don't really know what's under there.

I've tried a search, but only found info on older model cars. I don't have 5 settings for example, I have maybe 10. The control knob clicks every couple of degrees.

If you've referenced old posts related to '97 - '03 the troubleshooting principles are the same. Since the blower works when you mess with the electrical plug the best thing to do is concentrate on resolving the connection issue even if it means disassembly to include soldering. If your GP is still under bumper to bumper warranty have the dealer fix it.

On the '04 and up there is no blower motor resistor like earlier models that have manual HVAC control. Due to additional fan controls Pontiac went with a blower motor control module...aka Blower AC Power Module just like the digital climate control units on older Grand Prixs. Also, the electrical jack on the blower motor could be defective separate from the connector plug from the blower motor control module which may require replacement of the blower motor assembly.

Thanks for the reply. Yes my GP is under Bumper to bumper warranty, but the dealer has had it twice now and still haven't fixed the problem. I have a 14 month old girl and I can't be driving around without heat. So...I dropped the motor and disassembled it, cleanded and oiled the bushings and found what I think is the problem.....a bad ground to the can of the motor. I sanded and cleaned the tab, reassembled the motor, installed it and now it is working as it should. It took about 40 minutes and no cost in parts. Only time will tell, but I'm pretty sure I have it fixed. The dealer ordered a new power module...and I figure...after that was installed...I would still be in the same boat.

I'm work on packaging machines and have some electrical background. I've learned to always start with the easy things first. Get those out of the way. The Tech that worked on my car stinks. I've had 3 problems with my GP since I bought it and the problems were never fixed on the first appointment. It took 3 visits to get my rotors balanced. 3 visits to fix my sunroof and now this. So, with this problem included I've had to arrange 16 rides and been without a car for 8 days. I find this unacceptable and will never buy or lease another car from this dealer again. For the remainder of my lease I'll be going to another dealer....do they care? Probably not...Oh well, live and learn.

Good for you. And you can rant here all you want. We are good listeners and if nothing else good for moral suppurt because we have all been in a similar situation. I could tell you about my dealer horror stories but it would be boring and covers 9 years of ownership with my GTP, 5 years with a Regal GS and 7 years with a Regal LS.

But if you are not happy with the service from the particular dealer call Pontiac Customer Service and complain. Also, it is good to do DIY whenever possible if you are capable because if nothing else minimize down time with the car.
