Car Stereo Replacementrtyu9 01-06-2006, 06:58 AM I have a 2004 GP and want to replace the original stereo/cd player with a pioneer head unit. Has anyone attempted this? And if so how much of a pain was it to do? Is there any sites with info on installing a head unit into a GP? All the sites that I have been to skip over the G.P.! richtazz 01-06-2006, 03:46 PM Crutchfield usually has good info on aftermarket radio swaps, including wiring harness and mounting adaptors needed to do the swap. The radio looks like a straight-forward install according to the GM computer, but to retain things like your steering wheel controls (if equipped), you'll need a separate adaptor. GoBears 01-06-2006, 04:27 PM I was going to do the same thing, until I found out that you will lose the calendar function of DIC. I did not find any adapter that will replace that function. The stereo swap itself looks simple. richtazz 01-06-2006, 05:12 PM Leave it to GM to make a simple upgrade not so simple. My cousin has a Taurus and the radio is integrated into the dash/heater controls, so I guess it could be worse. I wish GM would quit shooting itself in the foot like this.
