1985 Jeep Cherokeefloresjb 01-05-2006, 05:07 PM I have a 1985 Jeep Cherokee, 2.8L V6, and it accelarates sometimes when I'm on the road without pushing the gas pedal. I have to brake frequently because I'm afraid of hiting the car in front of me. Can it have something to do with the cruise control? oljeeptek 01-06-2006, 12:48 AM I would first disconnect the cruise control cable Then check for a broken motor mount. Make sure the ign. timing is set correctly. Then check to see if the idle kicker settings are correct. oljeeptek 01-06-2006, 12:51 AM You should also check to see that the choke is not closing partially and putting the fast idle cam in play. I have also seen the throttle shafts wear and stick open slightly and intermittantly.
