Front Pads are worn unevenly

I changed my daughter's 2000 GT front rotors and pads about 8 months ago. This past week I found that both outside pads were down to the metal and both inside pads were close to new. The caliper slide bolts were greased adequately. What's going on here? Thanks!

Re: Front Pads are worn unevenly

Welcome to AF!

Uneven wear can be hard to diagnose but it usually leads to one or two things. First, the caliper is sticking due to the bolts not allowing it to move freely or the caliper piston is sticking once the brake is depressed and not allowing the pad enough clearance to move without contacting the rotor itself. If this is a high mileage vehicle you may want to replace the front calipers as it will probably cure the problem.

Re: Front Pads are worn unevenly

My 99 had the same trouble with the front brakes wearing different, changed the calipers and all the other little clips and bolts. Now they hav been fine for about two years with even wear.

And Welcome to AF MartyW.
