Re: ditching the a/c
you cant legally dump the refrigerant into the atmosphere. you can either get it discharged professionally then just remove it, or just get a shorter belt and dont run it around teh AC condensor. thats teh easiest. if you are dumb enough to discharge the system yourself, KEEP YOUR HANDS OR ANY OTHER BODY PARTS AWAY FROM TEH REFRIGERANT. IT WILL BURN SEVERLY!!!!!!!!!! PLUS ITS EXTREEMELY TOXIC!

He is right. that S#!t is toxic as hell.
After removing the lines and radiator I cut and taped away the conectors and installed a smaller belt. (you can go to any autopart an ask for the belt of the 95 neon without AC.

Now start unbolting all the lines starting at the firewall and work your way along to the a/c rad.
The rad has bolts on brackets at the top and bottom the top ones are easy to spot they are all 10mm it will be easier to also remove the main rad brackets to give more room to slide the a/c rad up and out.
After all the lines are removed then unplug the electrical connections from the compressor.
Now get under the car and remove the lower 13mm bolt on the compressor.
Have fun getting the upper ones off, as there is a lot in the way only 2 bolts left.
You might want to place something under the compressor to stop it from drooping down when it’s hanging on the last bolt.
Now slide that heavy compressor out it does fit out the bottom just move it towards the drivers side.
Ahh now there is only the compressor bracket left its got 6 15mm bolts and that should take care of it.

You will have to find a belt that doesn't account for the A/C and you should be good.

But then you are still running around with the added weight. R-134a isn't that bad. We deal with it at my job all the time.

Re: ditching the a/c
Yes I know it can harm you 134a is oxygen displacing gas so releasing a fully charged system in a small area can displace enough oxygen to suffocate you.I have access to a charge/reclamation machine. The benefit of working on helicopters with an ac system and being epa certified on class 2 appliances. However I dont think I need it.While my car was in storage some wonderful woodland creature was nice enough to chew through the hoses for my ac,therefore discharging the system for me.And yes he suffocated and I found him in my engine bay. Thanks for the help

Re: ditching the a/c
it is a FELONY in every state in the US and internationally illegal to discharge any refridgerant into the atmosphere. if you do, you run the risk of heavy fines.

Yes I know that is a punishable offense but what am I gonna do turn the dead mouse over to the epa?Like I said a mouse or somethin small and fuzzy chewed through the high side of my lines therefore letting all of the r 134a leak out into the atmosphere. But yes you are right and thanks for the reminder
