2001 GA/SE 3.4 Rotors

Posted this on the Grand Prix board by mistake. Need more coffee.I've read that the stock rotors for these cars are basically crap. Now the car is due for a brake and of course rotors (since there is nothing left of them ). Could someone recommend a GOOD name brand set of rotors and pads , that will match them. Don't want to get to crazy but would like a good , clean, long lasting brake combination. aLSO ARE THE CALIPERS WORTH ANYTHING OR DO THRY HAVE THEIR DOWNFALLS ALSO Thanks for all your help guys-Chris

Hey crys36! Kinda depends on how much money you want to spend. Those calipers are about all their is, unless you buy Baer brake kit/rotor but not all will fit in the stock rims.
But the Zone(duralast) or Advanced has less expensive ones. Napa or Carquest would hav then too, but they're practicly the same thing just a differnt name and the Big price.

You should be able to pick up a damn good set of rotors and pads for $120 or less. Just dont buy the cheapest set, I'd suggest the Semi-Metalic , not the Ceramic, and the carbon metalic are the best, but will leav alot of brake dust in your rims.

Re: 2001 GA/SE 3.4 Rotors

I would just go to your local parts store and buy their name rotors. such as napa auto parts just buy napa rotors. But i would strongly recommend the ceramic brake pads for about 80-100 you should be able to equip the front if rear disc then double the price. The ceramic pads dont leave brake dust and last a lot longer. Its up to you but i used to have a bad shake in my grand am until i switched the rotors and pads pads have been on for over a year and no much wear. good brakes. The calipers should be fine if they still work dont replace unless you want to go for performance then you got alot more money into the brakes and not worth it on a grand am. good luck

Re: 2001 GA/SE 3.4 Rotors

I put on vented rotors from power stop. They are better then stock the only thing is next to nobody will turn them because they are so hard they tear up the cutting blades.
