Hi, I just joined mainly because we are hanging off a cliff.

My step dad just gave us our 2nd pontiac Grand-am, We wrecked our other one.

Well its a 1994 Pontiac Grand-am V6 3.1 liter. On our way home 750+ miles with it, the cluster lights quit working. Well this morning, we went and checked all of the fuses by the driver door, to find all of them are working.

We noticed the chime saying the headlights are still on isnt working, the tail lights aren't working, the parking lights, the fog lights and the interior (cluster) lights are also not working. All fuses are saying they are good. So we pop the hood, and we cant find the fuses, we found a fuse on a wire (20 amp) and nothing more. Right now being on Exodus for work, we are short on money so I came here to see if anyone else has had this problem before i fork out the money when we are short of it.

To my knowledge there is only the one fuse box under the drive side dash on the 94's. DOuble check the fuses, especially anything marked interior or lighting ( Lamps) The only thing(s) that come to mind are, a bad headlight control relay module or Possibly a bad multifunction switch (your turn signal switch). I would look into those as the culprit. Good Luck and welcome to the forums

Sigh.... It tottally sucks that we cant figure this out. Specially when I cant get it inspected with no tail lights..... Grrrrr. Also... the reading lights are working and all the service lights work I.E.: SES, ABS, etc.

I just cant see how fast I'm going. It weird when things arent working, which makes you think fuse, but you look and other things on that fuse are working. *sigh*.

this old of a GA may just need a new cluster in the dash. They are known to go out all the sudden.

Might check around the local salvage yards to find a used one. They are pretty expesive new as its a dealer part that'll probley hav to be order'd.

We think its the headlight switch itself, we gotta wait for some money to get the part.. hope thats it.

Be sure to check the grounds under the dash, had them loosen up on me before on different vehicles, they will be the large bolts under the dash near the doors.

Check those first, if that isn't it and you know for sure it isn't the fuses (by using an ohm meter to check them) then its probably a fuseable link (fuse built into the wiring coming off the starter that powers the rest of the car) (check resistance in wire with an ohm meter)(should be 4 fuseable links & the main positive battery cable on the large post of the starter)

If the other things i've told you fail go to a junk yard and work a deal for a steering column, dash cluster, & head light switch. Im guessing its a fuseable link bad, might be visable, might not be.
