will i get a check engine light or run into any problems if i put my aftermarket wheels on my 05 tahoe that has the factory tire pressure monitoring.my local wheel/tire place wants $100 to change them from my factory wheels to my aftermarket ones, problem is i dont feel like paying to get this done 2xs a year because of switching back to factory wheels during winter months.thanks

You will get a check tire pressure message and the tpm light may come on the dash but it will not have adverse effects to the truck. If you switch your wheels that often, you may want to consider putting a set of sensors in your aftermarket wheels so you have them in both or live with the messages you get for part of the year. It's not worth the $100 for switching them over and over again because you will wear out the rubber gaskets on them.I have the sensors you need for your wheels if you waqnt another set. Otherwise, it's just the messages you will have to live with. Hope that helps.

I'd get the extra set of sensors for the new wheels.

Just be sure to mark which wheel goes where and put them back in the same location, or you'll have to re-calibrate the sensors every wheel change. It involves letting air out of each tire in sequence within 5 minutes, after turning the key on and off a few times, or some other song and dance.

Or have the Chevy dealer swap the wheels each time. Most of them have some kind of service special for oil change, etc. that includes tire rotation, and they can recalibrate the sensors easily through the computer.

$100 for the sensor swap? When my tire shop did mine, they charged me $20 bucks, including balancing.
