Engine Not Firing

Hey guys! I need a little help, I have a 1969 350 and it quit firing a week or so ago I replaced coil, Distributor cap and rotor button, wires and that seemed to fix it, well a few days ago it quit firing again this time I replaced the points and condensor I tried to start it and it fired up and went back dead now it is not firing at all again. Weird thing is that everytime I try to start it my battery ground where it connects to the exhaust manifold turns red and starts sparking, I have looked for bare wires touching the frame or anywhere else I have found nothing.

I dont see any grounds from engine to chassis. All I see is from battery to engine.

Re: Engine Not Firing

The engine has to be grounded back to the chassis and battery for good ground continuity, either thru the mounts, which are rubber of course, or a dedicated ground strap, this is why the ground cable is getting hot high resistace to ground causing it to overheat. Try running a jumper cable from a clean spot on the frame to the engine, see what happens.

Stops, do you mean it won't run or it stops cranking over, does it turn over strong? then just stop cranking?

Re: Engine Not Firing

Ok, more questions, do you have strong spark at the plugs? If not you may have fried the points. Check for 12v on the ign side of the coil when cranking.

Ok I checked the spark at my plugs and it is very very little, I then took a sparkplug and stuck it in the coil wire and it is sparking good at the coil except it was a yellow spark, My battery was a lil week though.
