Idler Arm

Hey All
Got a 1990 GMC Serria K1500, 4X4 5.7 engine. I changed the orignal idler arm about 4 years ago. Since then I can't keep one in it. The last one lasted about a month and half. Napa's been going good for them but what gives? I got new tires,Front end alignment, balanced. I even tried the heavy duty one. No luck. Any ideas?

Re: Idler Arm

The bushings keep going out. I have been greasing them. The last one I was greasing every 2 weeks, didn't make a differance.

Re: Idler Arm

Throw in the towel and get another brand or go Dealer oem.
Remember dealer Oem parts only hurts one time.
Aftermarket stuff can bite you in the rear many times.
And sometimes OEM is not much higher or even sometimes cheaper.
Check out OEM price and see how they stack up..

Re: Idler Arm

Ya if I can get the dealer to order a OEM part. They have been known to use Napa parts and tell the customer that it its OEM parts. (charged them OEM price too) I know I've caught them. Is there a web site where I can Order OEM parts?

Yes there is some GM online parts places.
Run a web search or someon may post a good one,
One may be GM parts direct.
Also AC delco parts has a good web site.
Good luck MT
