2000 Tahoe Wiper Problem - Please Help

I have been having problems with the wipers ever since I let my wife drive my Tahoe while it was snowing. The snow that fell froze under the wiper arm on the passenger side causing the wiper arm to stop at a point about 6-8 inches above where it normally stops. I could push the wiper arm on down but when using them it would return gradually to that point.

She drove it again today and came home to tell me that while she was using the wipers they "got tangled up" and bent the wipers blades. She went to an auto parts store and had the wipers blades replaced, but the passenger side wiper does not work at all now. Where do I start to repair this problem. Is something broke?

Take the complete arm off and see if the knurls are striped, if so you will have to get the parts that are striped from the dealer.

horse482 thanks for the reply.

For anyone else who might have this problem here's what I found. After removing the nut cover, nut and the wiper arm there is a tapered shaft that is splined. The wiper arm has a lead insert or sleeve that grips the splines on the shaft when the arm is tightened down.

In my case all I had to do was use a wire brush to clean out the splines, put the arm back on and tighten it down. Wiper works like it should. I will probably stop by the local Chevy dealer and pick up an extra sleeve in case this happens again on this arm. I doubt that these sleeves could be reused more than once or twice.
