Unhappy SHIFT SOLENOIOD B on Toyota Corrolla

Hello all, 1st time for me to post this.
1600cc automatic, year 2000, 35000 miles, non-lead pertrol engine.
My local small garage man has come with this fault by pluging his basic computer: P0755 & P0755+ (SHIFT SOLENOID B)
He suggested possible automatic transmission.
I want a another opnion of what needs to sort it out:
What does this indiacte - (automatic transmission)?
How can he/I solve the problem?

Please email possible answers to nileshrshah@hotmail.com
Many thanks.

Re: SHIFT SOLENOIOD B on Toyota Corrolla

You didn't say what type problem your transmission has, I assume something is wrong.
You posted your question on the Tacoma truck forum, however, the codes are similar. If you can get a shop manual for your car there should be procedure for testing the transmission for proper operation, one of the first checks should be a thorough check of fluid level and condition, including color and smell. If you have already gone through those checks and the transmission shop has come up with the codes the transmission solenoid will probably have to be removed for testing. It's inside the transmission.

Does your car still have a remaining mechanical warranty? If you do it's best to talk to your Toyota dealer, your miles are too low to be experiencing transmission problems. There may be a tech bulletin on the problem, it may take some detective work to find that information unless your car has been maintained by the dealer. It may be a good idea to post your question on the Corolla forum. Click on Toyota at the top and select Corolla. My truck shop manual lists code PO756 for shift solenoid B.

Re: Re: SHIFT SOLENOIOD B on Toyota Corrolla

At present the car runs but with the CEL orange light continous stays on when the car is on or running.
It was bought 2nd hand and there is no warranty at present.
I'll have to get my mechanic to check the fluid levels.
Does the code PO756 for shift solenoid B suggest automatic gear problem?
Or using it the way I am currently may develope further damage or not?
Any suggestions prior to taking to Toyota approved dearler?

with that code, i do my own work so i'd first check the wiring that is attached to solenoid that MAY cause it to operate wrong. as for it causing more damage i'd gaurantee you that it will cause more problems the more it malfunctions and by the way trannys are not cheap to work on so i'd suggest fixing it ASAP, before it requires a whole new tranny.
