Well neither should keep your car from starting.Have you checked the battery connection? Is the battery fully charged?

The code 42 for ASD Relay or Fuel Pump relay will keep your car from not starting and/or working correctly.

He mentioned his fuel pump was not engaging, so I'm assuming he put in a new fuel pump relay.

what i did was test every thing thaat the code was saying was wrong and found out that it was all fine...so i decided to test the starter while it was on the car and well it didnt work...so i had an old starter in the shed...tested it and it spun up and poped out so i threw it on and a way i went....
