Ticking Noise In Motor When It Get Hot

We just recently had our 2005 Colorado service for a oil change and since then we have a ticking noise when the motor gets hot. They try to tell us it is normal that it is the injectors. Has anyone had any problems like this?

It could also come from the valve covers, sometimes it takes a while for the lifters to break in. How manny miles u have on it?

It has 8,000 miles. You hear it mainly near the front passenger tire. It does not do it all the time. I took it to 2 dealerships on Monday, and of course it would not do it but when I got it back home and let it cool off and then started it and waited about 5 to 10 minutes, it started doing it again. One dealership even kept it over night on Tuesday and they didn't hear anything. We are also smelling gas when we start it up in the mornings.

I wouldn't think a new vehicle should have any gas smell. I've been around several of these trucks and never caught an odor. The ticking is a concern. Open the hood while it's running to further isolate where the noise id coming from. Pay close attention to the valve cover. The reason i say this, is because I've seen many complaints of exhaust valve spring breakage on these engines.

Re: Ticking Noise In Motor When It Get Hot

Have you ever heard of the valve lash adjuster having to be replaced because of it making a ticking noise which does not happen all the time? That is what we are being told needs to be done by dealership.
