Really need to get the code that is setting in the computer. Most parts stores will check this for free, but some do not test OBDI computers (which yours has). You can pick up a cheap tester for this yourself at Advance and read the number of flashes on your check engine light. You can do this by shorting out the right pins on your computer plug, but I have not done it that way. Once you have the code(s) at least you would have something to start with. May be MAP sensor, EGR valve, even an O2 sensor just to name a few possibilties.
