clutch adjustments and stuff...

ok before i begin, i always preferred my clutch engagement to be close to the ground because it's always been more comfortable for me. anyway a while ago (before i fixed this problem) my clutch pedal would ALWAYS squeak when pushed in. got on my last nerve so i tried lubricating the return spring. didn't help...so i lubed every fucking thing down there that dealt with the pedal. still no help. so i finally adjusted it back to the stock position, and the squeak was gone for good anyway that was done on my old master cylinder (the one that went bad, i had the 'ghost pedal' where if a light pressure was applied it sunk straight to the floor). so anyway i went to the junkyard, found a totalled 97 GSX and got the master cylinder for $30 (along with an EGR valve solenoid). not a bad deal. anyway this master has been working excellent since i got it (i made sure to properly adjust it also). the only concern i have (and i had this same concern on the old master) is that the engagment is TOO close to the floor. it's not ON the floor, but about 1 1/2inch from it. so tonight i tried to pull the engage point up a bit. it came up about an inch, which is good, but i'm all out of adjustment. now this is my concern. (read on)...

when i first got the car 2 years ago, it CW'd a week later, blowing the tranny and clutch too...well i took it to get repaired (didn't know shit about cars back then) and they thought it was only the tranny and clutch. got it back 2 weeks later, ran OK for that day but i noticed the clutch engage point was literally on the floor. took it back, my mechanic adjusted it until he was out of adjustments. i hopped back in, the engage point had come up MAYBE an inch from the floor. i was still not satisfied. (also note, that when i pushed the clutch in, it felt as if there were no pressure until i got to ACTUAL clutch, then it was hard as a fucking rock)....handed it back over to him to work out the problem. he replaced the slave, no luck. then he replaced the master, no luck. i was in the shop that day he tried out the new master. after having no luck and after bleeding it forever, he looks at me and says "oh shit"......................(still staring at me)...............(still staring)...........i finally say "umm, what?" he says "i may have to rip apart your motor and replace the main bearing". i say "umm ok, do whatever you have to do"....next day i get a call "yeah i got it all ripped apart, and i need you to come down here ASAP so we can talk" i go down there and that is when i learned about CW. well with that motor, it was so bad he had replace everything. (yes, new motor).

anyway, (if you're still reading), that is my concern. why can't i get my engage point to come up anymore? the clutch actually feels good and solid with plenty of pressure throughout the pedal. i'm thinking it could just be the master cylinder, and i know that the actual step height of the flywheel plays an important role with engagements also (especially if you have an aftermarket clutch)....anyone have any ideas?

yes, they replaced it with another 7 bolt...but my mechanic told me that mitsu supposedly sent me a 'revised' version of the motor so it shouldn't get CW again...i'm not so sure if this is true or not...

Re: clutch adjustments and stuff...

It's possible that its a revised 7 bolt... Because isn't it a 7 bolt in the Evos too? I know that they fixed the CW problem so they wouldn't have to worry about it with them. Thats how I figure you may have a "revised" 7 bolt.
