antifreeze leakbekim123 12-14-2005, 12:51 AM I got a 1997 taurus 3.0.didnt have much heat and temp needle would go up 3/4. i changed the water pump and the blades were worn.put the new water pump on and have nice hot air and temp stays normal. now i have antifreeze shooting out of the exaust.I checked the oil for water and notice any. What could have gone wrong? KimMG 12-14-2005, 04:46 AM Blown headgasket between the cooling jacket and the combustion chamber. bekim123 12-14-2005, 10:10 PM Blown headgasket between the cooling jacket and the combustion chamber. isnt that called the intake gasket? KimMG 12-15-2005, 02:58 AM No. The head gasket goes between the head and the block. bekim123 12-15-2005, 10:35 PM No. The head gasket goes between the head and the block. then why isnt their any water mixing in the oil? KimMG 12-16-2005, 03:28 AM There is no oil mixing with water because the head gasket did not fail between the cooling jacket and the oil passages. The head gasket keeps the cooling jacket, oil passages, and the combustion chambers separate. Do you have a nice local autoparts store? Go in when they're not busy and ask if they will show you a head gasket. You will see that the gasket is a large rectangle with a lot of holes. The gasket probably failed between one of the small holes and a large hole. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
