All,

Since about 35k, I have started experiencing a new problem with my Rodeo. I am stumped as to the cause, as is my local independent mechanic. I plan to consult an Isuzu dealer late next week, but my local Isuzu dealer charges $100 just to evaluate a vehicle for problems.

Right after maintenance at 35k consisting of an oil change, a transmission fluid swap, and a power steering fluid change, I began to notice a sound in the cabin that is similar to a large amount of fluid flowing down a drain pipe. This is a new issue with the vehicle that I had not previously observed in the prior 35,000 miles of ownership.

Usually when launching from a stop I can trigger this sloshing sound. What's interesting is that occasionally, even at idle, I can hear fluid circulating through some kind of pipe. Noticed this when I picked the vehicle up from an airport parking garage yesterday evening.

The sound seems to be coming from the front of the vehicle.

My local mechanic claims to have checked for fluid leaks, finding none. The same mechanic performed a second tranny fluid swap on the vehicle on a hunch that the first tranny fluid swap was performed incorrectly. No impact on the problem, but I am $100 poorer from the experience.

Any thoughts as to the root cause here?

Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Never heard about this issue before.

Turn the radio up.

Did you have the cooling system serviced? This sounds like air in the system. You are hearing bubbles go thu the heater core. Totally harmless. I on occasion hear the same thing on my 2002 LS.

Turn the radio up.

hehe, that's funny! :grinno: :iceslolan

is it possible that you are hearing the windsheild washer fluid sloshing around?

One of the better local mechanics that looked at the vehicle suggested that air might be trapped in the system. At the suggestion of my local mechanic, I ran the vehicle for about an hour yesterday with the radiator cap off. The theory was that any air trapped in the system would "bubble out."

No change.

I am not hung up on vehicle sounds generally speaking, but this problem started immediately after Kwik-Kar level high school mechanics worked on the vehicle. I have a doubt that the problem is "normal." The folks that worked on the truck probably botched some aspect of a series of relatively simple fluid changes. The problem is likely uncommon because it was caused by lousy maintenance work.

Looks like my Isuzu dealer will soon be $100 richer.

Fill your gas tank to the rim and see if it continues. You could just be hearing the fuel in the tank sloshing under you feet.
