Hey I just want to thank all of you who contribute to this site. I just got a P1404 and went to Autozone. They told me it was the EGR Switch. !$147.00. I checked this site before I started working on the Rodeo and read that it was prboably just dirty. I took it off and yep! it was stuck open. I cleaned it and put it back together, had them erase the code, and it did not come back, I returned the switch and stuck the $147.00 back in pocket. I have driven it a while and the CEL has not come back.

good deal!

I clean mine once a year. takes about 20 minutes and a half can of carb cleaner.

I would recommend doing it at least every 30k.
