I have a 95 neon. Since i bought the car i have to give it gas to start it. If i try starting it without gas it just turns and turns over. ONce i hit the gas pedal it starts right up. The only way it starts normal is if it sits overnight. Once i start it in the morning it starts right up without gas. But than the rest of the day you need to give it gas. I dont know if this problem is related to the starting problem. Two or three times now after i drive the car for a while it shuts off when you give it gas. It did that twice to me in the past couple of months. It didnt do it recently though. I checked the error codes and it only comes up 22. That is temperature coolant voltage too high or too low. I had changed the temperature coolant sensor, fuel filter, coil pack, throttle body, and plugs. I dont know what else too do. Please help

Have you had your battery checked? Your fuel pump might be going out on you also.

It is a new battery. I also got a new alternator. Someone told me to try changing the map sensor? I dont know what to do? Is their a way to check the fuel pump?

clean the throttle body bore really good and on the + battery post there is a smaller red wire it needs to be cleaned where it connects at the battery post stud and the addaptive memory must be reset after everything is done you can do this by disconnecting the pcm connector for about 15 minutes. If you try disconnecting the battery to try resetting memory
it may take up to 24 hours depending on options on car more options means more capacitors to discharge

Only takes about 15 minutes on my car and it has every option available. A better/easier way to reset the PCM is to pull the fuel pump fuse for about 15 minutes.

i cleaned the wire and i reset the computer. It still didnt work. I dont know what to try next

I forget to add that the car starts right up after it is cooled down. Like i said it starts normal in the morning. But after you drive the car it wont start unless you let it sit for a couple hours. It seems like when it cools down it starts right up

Ok, do you have any error codes right now? It could also be a vacuum leak somewhere or a stuck EGR valve causing your slow starts.

How do you check the egr or vaccum hoses? The only error code im getting is 22. That is temperature coolant sensor voltage too high or too low. I changed the sensor two or three days ago but it did not erase the error code.

You have to erase the code by pulling the fuel pump fuse in the PDC or disconnecting the negative terminal on your battery.

To check your EGR valve, you will have to remove it and then see if it is working properly. Search EGR in this forum, I have told someone how to get the valve off before.

Checking for a vacuum leak, means you need to have the engine running and inspect/check all of your hoses for possible leaks.

i checked the egr and hoses and i cleared the memory

It is possible the sensor you got is a bad one. It's not totally impossibe to get a "bad" part from the store. You problem sounds like an overheating issue still. Try getting a new senor, check to make sure you have the right mixture of coolant to water ratio, if that does not help you may have to put in a new radiator. Also a new thermostat might help.
