Unhappy 98 sunfire rear window defrost

Hello, has anyone had this problem? Last fall the rear defrost worked flawlessly, summer went by, now this fall, no defroster!?! The light is on but nobody is home. I pushed the defrost button and the light comes on but the window doesn't defrost, not even one line. So I changed the fuse, still no defrost. So I used the volt meter on the back lines as described by the service manual (Haynes) and the conections as perscribed by same. But I get no reading. So I take it into the shop for a quick check, they confirm my findings and suggest that the cheapest way to fix is to run a new line. Has anyone got a better idea? P.s. I'm not looking forward to pulling up all the panelling.

Thankyou '98 blue

Re: 98 sunfire rear window defrost

well they are dumb asses!!!! the first thing to do is check the fuse like you did then if that don't work take a voltage tester to each individual line and find the break cause thats all it is gonna be a break in the line........so once you find it mark it with a washable marker buy a kit and follow the instructions on the kit that WILL WORK!! i know cause i did it on my 79 camaro!
