passport fuel gauge used to work off and on but now stays reading empty and the fuel light flashes 24/7 before sometimes it would read right and sometimes it wouldnt not it reads empty and the light flashes any ideas on a simple fix?

Very very common on the 1998+ rodeo/passport. Try a search for "fuel gauge" or "sending unit". The contact between the wiper board and arm on the fuel level sensor (sending unit) wears out with age. You can bend it back together or replace the SU.

Personally, I think if you are going to go through the trouble of dropping the tank spend the $35 or so and get a new FSU. If the pumps werent so freaking expensive I would have replaced that too while I was doing my FSU.

what about a 92 rodeo with the gas guage stuck on full? I guess the guage worked fine until it was parked for sale for a couple of weeks, and its been stuck on full ever since..
