May be two unrelated problems. Does the car run rough, or just smoke? The smoking could be a lot of different things. Does it loose coolant, does it use excessive amounts of oil? Does it smell like raw gas?
As far as the stalling goes, this is USUALLY caused by TCC solenoid problems, or, failing ignition module / crank sensors. I suppose it could have a bad fuel problem and flooding out, but see if this is what is going on when it stalls. Does it start jerking when slowing down to stop, act like a standard shift car in high gear, finally shutting off. Restarts but stalls as soon as put into gear. Will go into gear after cooling off a bit, but will start doing this again when hot.
OR,,, does it simply sputter and die while driving / idleing and WON"T restart until it sits a while? To better get help from those here, when did the car start smoking? Always done it? Just start? If it smokes a LOT then it is either - A- burning OIL, maybe a broken ring etc. B- excessive gas, perhaps fuel injector problem, throttle body problem, C- steam from cracked head/blown gasket or intake gasket problems.
Please advise if oil is milky colored, anti freeze always low, engine missing constantly, or any other detail you can think of.
If the stalling is caused by the TCC solenoid it is a simple fix. Any other problem may or may not be over my head, but any information SHOULD get some help / other replies.
