Question 94 Z34 engine swap

Any body know if a 4.3 will fit into a 94 Z34? Will I need to swap transmissions too? Its time to pull the old 3.4 out.

Re: 94 Z34 engine swap

Chevy small block variant 4.3???

Good luck. Bellhousing bolt pattern isn't even close to correct, and it'd weigh a ton more. Overall much larger than a 3.1, although I don't know if it's taller/wider than a 3.4. Probably longer, although, again, I'm not sure. If you could get it to bolt in, the extra torque would kill the trans in short order.

You'd be custom-making the exhaust system, too.

4.3 v6. I know it wouldn't bolt up to anything. Also know the trans from the 3.4 would not work. Just wanting to know how much cutting and front end mods it would take. I was also thinking about rear wheeel drive.I know lots of work and mods to everything under the car.Has anybody ever done this to a Lumina?

How about putting a NorthStar front clip in a Chevy Lumina Z34, has anyone heard of doing that, and if so what magazine was it in?

All these mods are way more expensive than the gains would justify. There is no point. If you want a RWD car, buy a Caprice/Impala or Camaro. It would cost WAY less, and you could re-sell it without taking a huge hit. My estimation for parts/labor/fabrication would be $1500-$3000 just for parts and 100's of hours of labor. Again, NO POINT.

Re: 94 Z34 engine swap

I don't want a rwd car.I want to swap out that 3.4 for something alot better.I've talked to a shop that has swaped a complete mid 90s clip from a Cadallic with a Northstar V8,trans and transaxle into a Z34 with not alot of mods to the Lumina. Both clips bolt up to the same bolt pattern, even the ecm is an easy swap. GM to GM. The biggest cost of the swap would be the Cad front clip. I wonder would it be called a Luminallic?
