EGR Valve

Any reconmendations, of a good method to clean a egr valve? Mine wont hold a vacumm. Ive looked around dismantlers, but they are $40 and higher. I need a cheap fix.

Anyone want to send one to me for free? lol.

91 Toyota Tercel , 4 speed manual 1.5 liter EFI, 2 door, white, with a little dirt on the outside, skull sticker on the back window lol. Dont think those things contribute to model.

When cleaning it there is also a metal hose runs from the valve to the intake maniflod clean it mine was cloged all the way, i just took some carb and choke cleaner and take you air box off and clean the throttel body with carb and choke cleaner and a paper towl, you will be suprised, it took me like almost a hole row of towls, lol. It was dirty. just spray and reach in and wipe. Get it the throttel body as far as you can. When i started mine big oh puf of smoke cam out and i ran it for a little gained like 5hp and runs like new now. Check for vaccume leaks while you are at it. Good luck!!

The egr is easy to clean, do a search on it here and you will see how we have done it. Funny about the skull sticker, mine has a skull shifter and that is what eveyone calls my car. The skull.

Mines named Mort. Its that off white color, kinda looks like bone. im hoping to get the skull stick shift for christmas.

Thanks cav for the tips. year that metal hose was cloged once, and i did it the hard way with toothpicks lol. Its still dirty so im going to clean it next weekend. Now taking the air box off is going to be a challenge. Never done that before. Im a unexperienced do it yourselfer mechanic. Lean everything by he book or by forum in this case.
