Powder-Coating Valve Covers...mattzneon 06-03-2002, 09:09 AM Alright, I have some serious powder-coating connectionz (girlfriend's dad! :) ) Anywho, I'd like to powder-coat my valve cover bright yellow, but I dont know what it is made of. I mean, when you knock it with a wrench or somethin' it doesn't sound like anything metallic, and if you dont know you can only powder-coat metal (aluminum, cast-iron, etc.). Can someone please help me out with the 'material' the valve cover is made out of? Thanks, Matt KatWoman 06-03-2002, 01:09 PM What year Neon is it?? The valve cover should be metal. It may not feel like it because of the finish it already has on it. My fiance has a SOHC Neon which also has a metal valve cover. He stripped the finishoff of it to go for the "bare metal" look. surrealneon 06-04-2002, 12:37 AM I saw it done a little while ago, a guy posted some pics of it on dtz.com, it looked pretty sweet! His was done bright yellow... so i'm guessin it can be done :) KatWoman 06-05-2002, 06:23 PM Yep it can be done. Check out the forums on www.neons.org too. Several people on there have had their v-covers done. Also a good information source for Neon specific problems/help/whatever. :) Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
