Is it an automatic transmission? If so the button probably turns overdrive on/off.

Thanks but no it's not the overdrive. There is another button ON the stickshift for overdrive. This button is on the floor next to the shift.

OK, heres the deal. The button that says Enconomy on and off, does just whats it says. With the button pressed in, your accent will shift itslef at lower rpm's, hence saving gasoline. with the economy button out/off your accent will shift at regular intervals. This button does not turn off overdrive, which you already knew. And thetre it is in a nutshell.

That seems to be the situation.
It feels like the car takes longer to accelerate when the economy button is pressed. Feels like not the same amount of power when i step on the gas.
I guess using the button will put extra stress on the transmission though by making it change gears when the car really isnt up to the right speed for the next gear.
Thanks.

Economy button is for those who prefer to save gas on the way to work rather than make it there in record time.
