93 Tercel Coolant Leakjudyraftery 11-29-2005, 08:26 PM Trying to find the most likely cause of coolant leak before spending a fortune in repairs. Looked under the car and looks like no leaks from the radiator or pump. Coolant just about streaming out looks like between the engine and the generator (?) Just started leaking a couple weeks ago and then intermittantly. Help! 97cavalier 11-29-2005, 09:28 PM Trying to find the most likely cause of coolant leak before spending a fortune in repairs. It is not the head gasket because it is not smoking and can't see any leaks. But i think mine is the radiator. But you might want to check hoses, and look at waterpump gasket. Mine had a crack.... a new radiator for 94 and under cost about $ 150 i dont know about 1995 and above... probably the same but not sure... But also you probably have a crack in the head where you coolant is probably is leaking off to and burning off..... unisoul 12-02-2005, 02:35 PM I had same problem on my 91' Tercel. It ended up being the Waterpump Gasket. judyraftery 12-23-2005, 01:49 AM The leak isn't anywhere near the radiator and there is no burning. Like I said, the coolant is just streaming out. Does anyone know if these engines have freeze plugs that can pop out? KimMG 12-23-2005, 03:08 AM See if you can rent, borrow a pressure tester (check autoparts stores and tool rental places). Pressurize the system and see if you can locate the leak. There is a dye available to put in the cooling system and you use a blacklight to detect it where it is leaking. 97cavalier 12-23-2005, 05:19 PM See if you can rent, borrow a pressure tester (check autoparts stores and tool rental places). Make shure you get the stop leak stuff with out the little balls in it because thoes clog up your heater core. kronkonn 12-24-2005, 07:58 AM CHECK the hoses, seriously, most look fine but under pressure they leak and as for the freeze plugs question call the toyota dealership and ask the SERVICE dept. the can tell you. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
