Oil pressure on 99 JGCLjahillia 11-28-2005, 10:35 AM Ok, pulling into my garage last night, my oil pressure needle bottomed out and the "check gauges" light came on. As I revved the engine, the needle went back to between 30 and 40 lbs as normal. When driving down the road, however, it again started to bottom out. Is this a sign that the oil pump is going out or is it something like the oil sending unit failing? Any help is appreciated.... Thanks, mx52nv 11-30-2005, 03:27 AM replace the sending unit first and post back. very easy to do. jahillia 12-07-2005, 08:41 AM replace the sending unit first and post back. very easy to do. I ended up taking it to the shop. It was the oil sending unit ( I had no idea where it was) He also said that it had an oil leak around the unit that caused it to short out. Battery died at the same time! Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
