low coolant indicator

I have a 2001 Grand Prix SE. The 'low coolant' indicator remains on for about 5 or so minutes after I start the car. I have checked the coolant and it seems to be OK. The temperture is reading well within safe range. Is this just a glitch or does it indicate a bigger problem? Thanks in advance.

Re: low coolant indicator

The coolant level sensor may have some sludge on it, causing it to give an erroneous low coolant signal.

Had the same problem with mine. In my case the sensor went bad. I took mine to the dealer since the car was still under warrenty. O had them deal with it.
