Is this 2000 Neon worth buying
My old neon is falling apart, then I saw this ad for a newer 2000 neon, 87k miles 5 speed going for $900 the only prob is its been in a crash. It needs a new hood new left fender, light and light holder. Also the metal bar that is bolted on to the top radiator is pushed in by the light... is this part fixable or is it welded in? There was coolant all over the radiator but im not sure if a line is broken or if its the radiator, the radiator seems intact.

Unless you can do all the welding yourself and can get it for around $100, I would not buy it. It looks like it has some frame damage. For $900 you can get a first gen neon that has not been wrecked and in good condition.

Re: Re: Is this 2000 Neon worth buying
Well I got it down to $700, frame damage? You mean on the top? The bar the radiator bar is conected to on the side is somewhat bent will this be a problem?
Other than that I was thinking it needs a new hood, new radiator top bar, new light and light holder and a new fender and throw a intake in there ...find out where is leaking coolant from...and it should be good to go right? Im thinking the total cost would be about $500 so $700+$500= $1200 for a 2nd generation Neon which doesnt have half the problems the 1st generation has

Its true, frame damage is way to much work, & if its not done right the car is gonna look like its running side ways. If no frame damage, then its not bad for $700, cause then all U need to do is buy the radiator support (which I think U have to weld), a fender, & a hood, oh yeah, & the head light.

Re: Re: Is this 2000 Neon worth buying
How can I tell if it has frame damage? What is considered the frame? Can I tell if it has frame damage by driving it? The wheel well intter plastic part was dropped a little so it drags against the tire when you turn.

Re: Is this 2000 Neon worth buying
Have U drove it before, the plastic can easily be pushed in, back to its place. As for frame damage, if the side where its hit is push in about a foot, then the hit did reached the frame, the frame is the main body part of the car, not the fender, bumper, or hood. If the part of the car, where the fender is bolted, is crooked, then it has frame damage.

Many people call it frame, most people call it "CHASSIS".

Better way would be to look from the bottom. Look at the chassis. If you are not sure what you are looking for, go look under a 2000 neon that has not been wrecked and then look at the one you want to buy. Frame would be just about anythiing that is welded on and not held on buy bolts or nuts. And yes the radiator support does need to be welded on.
