Amp Installation

Which wire on the factory stereo (2001 Chevy Silverado) harness would I connect the remote wire for an amp to?

Welcome to the Forums!!!

I used a harness adapter, so I cannot say for sure. It was a Scosch or something like that. I do not want to pull my dash apart ATM. Someone will chime in I am sure and steer you straight>>

Re: Amp Installation

find a wire on the fuse box that is only on when the key is or splice into the factory power to radio. this way if you shut the truck off the amp turns off when the radio does when you open the door.

If your using an in-line converter, like me, you dont have to connect the remote wire. Your amp will turn on wen ur speakers turn on (wen u turn on ur stereo).

Unless your adding an aftermarket head unit that has a remote wire, the way stated above is the best and easiest way to do it.

The wiring colors may be a little off. I think mine was green, but I don't recall ATM. Best thing to do is get a meter and check. Even a cheap one will do the trick.

it is a green wire next to the orange one. there will be 2 green wires, 1 will be near a light green wire that is a speaker wire. the other dark green will be near a black and orange wire and that will be ACC on the radio can be used for a remote turn on but make sure that it is fused.
