91 Lumina - Tie Rod Bellows and Motor Mounts

I am somewhat of a novice backyard mechanic (just finished replacing the waterpump on my 91 Lumina) and need noticed that I need to replace the bellows on my rack and pinion steering rods. Is there anything specific that I need to know, other than mark the thread or count the number of turns it takes to remove the tie rod ends. Also, I do not have nor have I ever used a tie rod end separator/removal tool. Is this tool a necessity or can I remove the tie rod end without it?

Also, do you know of any web sites that offer some instruction for backyard mechanics? I found the Autozone site and it has been very helpful.

I also need to replace the lower motor mounts for my Lumina, but depending on how well the bellows go on, that might have to go to a shop for repair.

Thanks.
