hello everyone,

heres my problem, my friend just bought a 99 grand prix with a 3100 in it and he is having trouble with it taking to long to start. the motor will crank for 5 to 10 seconds before it starts, after it starts it runs fine. just wondering if anyone has had a problem like this or would have any idea as to why its doing it. we just figured some how it is losing its prime
any input would be great thanks alot.

As long as it runs fine after starting with no other driveability problems you can start by checking the fuel pressure at the injector rail because it sounds fuel system related. That way you can check the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. If the fuel filter has never been changed out or the status of it is unknown that would be a good starting point.
