Question 4 wheel drive button

When I push the button on the 4 wheel level to switch into 4 wheel drive, the light doesn't go on, nor does the vehicle engage in four wheel drive. Is there a fuse to that opporation? Where is the fuse?
I stopped and put it in low (trabsfer case) and it still doesn't seem to be ion 4 wheel drive. Help!

Give some details on your vehicle, year, engine, tranny,

On my 92 it has the A.D.D. and the switch that activates the light is in the front differential where a vacuum diaphragm locks the axel only when it is fully engaged will the light come on.
I had the vacuum line disconnect at the differential that caused it not to engage.

Most probable cause is a vacuum line came off the VSV valve on the fender in the engine compartment or the valve is faulty itself.

Good Luck!

Re: 4 wheel drive button

It's an '97 4 Runner Limited with 4 wheel drive but no
A.D.D. I thought it was a fuse, manual said fuse was in the car. Checked all fuses in dask fuse boxes and none appear blown.

I will check the vacuum hose , is it on the transfeer case or on top of the engine.

Re: 4 wheel drive button

If you do not have the ADD then there won't be a vacuum line to control it.

Thanks. After pulling all the fuses and checking them. It's decided to work again.
