Unhappy rough running 2000 silverado

hello, i have a 2000 silverado with a 4.3 liter vortec and i got into a slight fender bender in which my ladder hit another car (our actual cars didnt touch) very slight not even a scratch, but as soon as i tried to leave the car ran very baddly its misfiring and the code it gives when tested is random cylinder misfire, it also dies at times now , previosuly i had no problems, does anybody know some things to try? I replaced the cap adn roter just this last year and found out it was actuall the ign. module and replaced it as well if that helps!

TRY REPLACEING THE SPARK PLUG AND WIRE FOR THE MISSFIRE. THIS WILL TAKE SOME TIME. SWAP THE SPARK PLUG FIRST WITH ANOTHER ONE. THEN GO BACK AND PULL THE CODE AND SEE IF IT IS THE SAME ONE THAT IS MISSFIRING. IF IT IS THEN ITS NOT THE SPARK PLUG. AFTER THAT CHANGE THE SPARK PLUG WIRE. THEN PULL THE CODE AGAIN AND IF ITS THE SAME THEN IT WILL MOST LIKELY BE THE COIL. IF. DO YOU KNOW WHICH CYCLINDER IS MISSFIRING? WHAT CODE IS IT? ON THE 2000 SILVERADO DONT THEY HAVE INDEPENDENT COILS?

That's weird!! everything today is computer controlled. When in doubt, reboot the computer. Disconnect the NEG batt cable over night and see what happens. Let us know..........

well that was the first thing i tried, ive also cleaned the egr valve and that didnt help, could it possibly be a bad injector? how could i test for that? and how can u test the coil, or possibly the ignotion module?

The ladder has got to be coincidence. Random fire failure indicates electronic problems or fuel line problems. If you have not run into this:
- Check fuel pressure with a tester. The fuel pressure regulator commonly breaks. It's easy to replace yourself.
- Fuel filter? Once the filter has had it, you get this symptom. If you haven't replaced it in a while, go ahead. Easy DIY.
- Distributor: Not sure what type of distributor you have. Check it out too. I owned an old ford that had a cracked distributor housing. Every time it rained the thing wouldn't start!

Could you have a bad tank of gas?

Re: Re: rough running 2000 silverado

So the distributor is gone? How would a plug cause that?
If they are telling you to replace the distributor, you might see if the part had a warranty. Maybe try replacing one part at a time and see what works. Sorry, I'm out of ideas.
