CD installation '03 Impalatbuckit1 11-25-2005, 11:35 AM I'm wanting to install a factory double din AM/FM CD in my '03 Impala, replacing the cassette. What will work for me? I'm being told that '99 to '02 will interchange and then '03-'05 will interchange. Anyone know before I order one?? phewop118 11-25-2005, 11:52 PM You are correct, but they didn't make an imp in 99. thermal izod 11-26-2005, 08:29 AM i have a 2000 impala....bought an '03 CD unit....swaped it out, it locked out, see my post about it....it works, but it's complicated. All the info u need is in the following thread i started when I went through thie CD sterio issue... http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=459018&highlight=theftlock tbuckit1 11-26-2005, 08:58 AM I know about theftlock, I was just unsure if the plugs were the same year to year. Thanks for all the info guys. tbuckit1 thermal izod 11-26-2005, 05:25 PM my bad, misread ur question...yes, mechanically the fit is perfect....electronically too...the difference that causes the theftlock problem is the VIN #'s...they don't match up after, i believe, 2003...thus the reprogramming. (the VIN in the PCM and the one stored in the Stereo's brain). Hope this helps. -Tim tbuckit1 11-27-2005, 10:06 AM If the previous owner of the radio didn't activate the Theftlock feature on the radio, it should be fine. Otherwise, I already have the unlocking codes at my disposal. Thanks for your input tho. thermal izod 11-27-2005, 01:31 PM Anytime...let me know how it works out... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
