shift clunk

Has anybody tried and removed the front driveshat and seen if the clunk on 2-3 upshift was still there. Mine seems like its coming from that area, only happens occaisionally. Truck is an 05 4x4 with auto trans. Thought I would check here before experimenting. Of course dealer says its normal......hmmm
