fuel consumption too highali_kadhum 11-22-2005, 10:20 PM Hi guys I have 3.1 Lumina 241k. It runs well but I have noticed an increase in fuel consumption in the last few weeks. The air filter is new and the spark plugs recently changed. Any ideas?. And if you think its the O2 sensor then you have to tell me where it is because I do't know.. THANKS ali_kadhum 11-24-2005, 08:57 AM Guys where r u???? No response!! jeffcoslacker 11-24-2005, 11:35 AM The o2 sensor is in the exhaust pipe, near the cat. It would be a good idea to change it. You might wanna borrow a fuel pressure guage and test the fuel pressure regulator and see if the injectors bleed off when the motor is shut down (dribbling fuel even when not spraying). any other symptoms, sooty smoke, long crank times, fuel odor? jeffcoslacker 11-24-2005, 11:39 AM One other thing, make sure you aren't dragging a brake. Drive it around and get everything good and hot, then stop on a slightly off-level surface and put it in nuetral and see if it will begin to roll easily. If you are dragging one it'll just sit there. Can you feel the torque convertor lock when it should? That'll waste a fair amount of fuel when cruising if you aren't getting lockup. What year is yours anyway? ali_kadhum 11-27-2005, 05:05 PM Hi Tahnks for the information. My car is 1995 and its running realy well and smoothly. No soots no delay it starts easily and no fuel leak smell. And can you tell me how many Km/ltr the car should do??intown and on high ways?? One other thing, make sure you aren't dragging a brake.
