98 Jetta door speakers

I just purchased 4 speakers. The two went into the back no problem. I was just wondering how I would take apart the door panel to put the speakers in the side door panels. I think there would be an easier way than taking the whole door panel apart but i'm not sure so if anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Re: 98 Jetta door speakers

I have a 1998 jetta TDI, and its pretty easy. You see the speaker grill, and how there is a little gap all around it. Simply take a screwdriver or a knife, and gently pry the speaker grill off by inserting the flat blade into that gap and prying.. there are 4 clips.. the bottom one is a littel more difficult than the other three, but if you jiggle it a little bit and insert the screwdriver/knife at that and give it a little wiggle, it will come free. Once that is done, you are ready to unscrew the speaker and replace it!
