Very interesting! I am glad I run Mobil1 synthetic and a Mobil1 filter!! But I couldnt tell if he thought synthetics should be changed evey 3,000 miles even though they are rated for 15,000 miles?? (I use 5W-30 Mobil1 EP (extended Performance). I may drop back to regular Mobil1 Synthetic :dunno: sa200 11-20-2005, 09:24 PM Here's an interesting link to an article on motor oils written by an expert in the industry: http://www.lincolnsonline.com/article105.html That guy said his mustang got 10-11 miles a gallon using 20-50 oil, and it gets 17-18 miles a gallon using mobil 1.... hehehehehehe he is crazy!!! tykrz 11-20-2005, 10:24 PM Apparently Mobil 1 5W30 Extended Performance doesn't meet GM spec 4718M regarding synthetic oils or the ILSAC GF4 specification but Mobil 1 5W30 does. This from the Mobil website. tykrz 11-20-2005, 10:28 PM I run Mobil 1 5W30 in my truck and change it when the oil life computer brings up the message to change it or 200 engine hours whichever comes first. This from the Mobil website. Well, I have run the EP for 3,000 miles. I need to change to regular Mobil1 synthetic (NOT E.P.) now what the heck do I do with the 6 quarts of Mobil1 EP I bought?? I don't have my autozone receipt :banghead: Thanks for the headsup. Quote from Mobil1: "Mobil 1 Extended Performance products contain 50 percent more SuperSyn, 37 percent more cleaning agents, and 36 percent more anti-wear additives than Mobil 1."
