gas fumes after intake manifold and egr repairs.

I just had the intake manifold gaskets and egr valve fixed up on my 99 grand am se. Everything is running great, and the SES went out a day later. Last night I walked by the car and you could smell really strong gas fumes so today iv been looking around and dont see any problems but im not to up to par with newer motors. Anyone have suggestion on what to look for. BTW its the 3.4l

Re: gas fumes after intake manifold and egr repairs.

welcome terr. Do you here any Hisssing sounds coming from the top of the engine when its running?
Its either the lines that go to the fuel rails, under the top intake. Or one or more of the fuel injector O-rings arent seated properly and thier for leaking alittle bit.
Check around the injectors for the hissing sound if they are the culprit, sometimes the fuel rails them selves dont get tightend all the way and allow the injectors to kinda suck air where they meet the fuel rails.

Thanks but no hissing sounds. Guess I'll just run it back to the garage that did the work.
