I have the famous steering clunk in my 2000 Z71. I've read things about this subject before like how there's a grease pack wich is a temporary fix or replacing the intermediate steering shaft. Anyone replaced this shafthim self ? If so, how much are these and how hard is it to replace ?
I would also like to know this incase mine ever starts clunking

My steering knock turned out to be the intermediate steering shaft, and the dealer installed it under warranty. Man, what a difference after getting the new one in, its like driving a new vehicle!
My truck also has a loose horn/airbag assembly, and it moves around when I turn the wheel which gives a knock feeling in the wheel sometimes. My temporary fix was just fill in the gaps around the horn with clear silicone until the dealer can look at it during the next oil change.
