bypassing heater core

i realy need to know how to bypass my heater core in my 97 grand am. i already plugged off the two hoses that went into the heater core . but it still overheated . i wonder igf i should have connected the two hoses so they can circulate

well if you want to bypass the core then you do need to connect the two lines on the engine side, so they can still circulate the coolant properly.
But just because you do this, and if you hav other issues causeing the overheating like a stuck/bad thermostat, it still will overheat. Is that whats happening Now, overheating?

yeah it was over heating, i have connected them together now i'need to replace the heater core. It doesnt seem to be over heating anymore. Thanks for the help

yep its over heatin.. but now i connected the lines n its ok now thanks

You definitely need to connect the two hoses together. The cooling system has no bypass route so the fluid needs to circulate through.
